Romancing the Storm Autumn 2011 collection

When Inika founders Miranda Bond and Jenni Williams came up empty handed on their quest to find natural cosmetics that deliver in both the performance and colour stakes, they knew they’d have to create it themselves.

Concerned with toxic-free living yet resolute in terms of performance (and more than a touch of glamour), Miranda and Jenni launched Inika in 2006. Immediately Inika created a stir amongst women pining after Australian made makeup that’s both natural and safe, yet as effective and exciting to use as conventional makeup.

Today the Inika fever continues to grow. As consumers understand the positive health and environmental impact a green lifestyle can have, mineral makeup is increasingly becoming a mainstay in bathrooms and makeup bags across the globe.
Want proof? Inika is currently sold through more than 500 stockists in 13 countries around the world including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA, Canada, France, Greece, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Slovenia.

“Women everywhere are recognising that they no longer have to choose between using makeup that works and makeup that is free from harmful ingredients that can affect both their health and the environment,” says Miranda Bond, CEO and co-founder of Inika.

Since its launch, Inika has become a mineral makeup frontrunner and credits an impressive list of A-lister amongst its followers. Stella McCartney, Australian Olympian Giaan Rooney, “Bones” actress Emily Deschanel, Kate Richie, Pippa Black and Deni Hines are just some of the star-studded to convert to Inika’s cleaner, safer way of doing makeup.

Bond believes in consumers being able to make informed choices about what they put on their skin and insists on full disclosure when it comes to ingredients lists – so you know exactly what’s gone in. More important though perhaps, is what Inika leaves out of its formulations. All Inika products are guaranteed to be completely free from harsh petrochemicals, fillers, talc, bismuth oxychloride, GM ingredients, parabens, preservatives, mineral oils, phthalates and fragrances. Great huh?
And it doesn’t stop there. Inika is one of the only makeup brands to have all products certified vegan or certified organic (or both). It is also 100% Halal and cruelty free. The word Inika means “small earth” in Hindi and, in accordance, the brand practices astute environmental awareness at all times. So go ahead and feel good about looking good.

All Inika products are also non-comedogenic, which means they won’t clog the pores, and are safe to use even on the most sensitive of skin. In fact, Inika cosmetics so safe on delicate skin, the brand is often recommended by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons for use after procedures such as laser resurfacing, chemical peels and microdermabrasion.

Colour is also a priority at Inika HQ and is at the crux of every product – Bond and Williams know that makeup is, after all, about colour and getting it bang-on. Inika currently has an impressive 79 permanent products as well as limited edition products and seasonal colour collections. This season, the Autumn 2011 Collection, Romancing the Storm, is a sultry, seductive collection of plums and charcoals. It’s sure to be snapped up fast so don’t linger.

I use the bronzer and love it I always get comments on how good it looks. When I started using this product my skin felt a bit itchy but it didn't take long for my skin to become adjusted to mineral products, now I don't feel it on my skin at all.

I have very sensitive skin - can wear make up for one day, but end up red and blotchy. A make up artist used this on all the bridesmaids at a friend's wedding - it felt (and looked) wonderful - like you've been airbrushed. It has good coverage, but is light enough to wear even in the middle of a QLD summer!

This is the best make up I've ever used, I absolutely love the Illuminisor, it's just the perfect shade for my skin
