Made from fermented paw paw (carica papaya L), Simmons have captured the healing properties of paw paw in a base of vegetable waxes, bees wax and oils.
The medicinal properties of paw paw have been known for years, but science is now in a position to explain why this tropical fruit is so rich in healing qualities.
Papaya (paw paw) is rich in an enzyme called papain. This enzyme has softening and disintegrating qualities that are ideal for the treatment of:
- warts,
- corns,
- eczema,
- rashes (eg heat and nappy),
- insect bites and
- mild psoriasis.
It has also been known to reduce inflammation and treat ringworm.
Papain enzymes in paw paw breaks down protein toxins (disintegration) which make it a good emergency home remedy treatment for jellyfish, bee and wasps stings. Papain is often synthesised and used as an active ingredient in insect repellents and insect bite soothers such as Stop Itch.
