A rough guide to a gradual transformation to organic and natural living

It’s great to see so many people are really keen to change their personal care product to organic and natural alternatives.  Whilst the very best option is to chuck out your old chemical ridden products and replace them with organic and natural alternative, it can be daunting, a bit confusing and down right expensive.

Naturally Safe Cosmetics would like to suggest what an effective way of transforming your bathroom with little or no pain.   We have put together a 7 step procedure to help you transition at a speed that suits you emotionally and financially.

We suggest:

Steps 4 to 7 can be done in any order.   For example: if you don’t wear make up, then skip Step 5; If you have youthful skin then you may not need Step 4.

If you are looking for some direction on the best first step in changing your products, we at Naturally Safe Cosmetics have found that following Steps 1 to 3 gets you good results in the shortest time.

The Steps to transform your bathroom explained

Before you start, make yourself a cup of tea, put on your favour calming music, grab a pen and paper and write a list of all the reasons why you want to start using organic and natural personal care products.   Just a 2-3 minute brainstorm of all your reasons and you can add to it each time you’re ready for the next

Your list could include things like: better health, healthier skin, enhancing your beauty with nature or ridding your bathroom cupboard of nasty chemicals lurking in commercial beauty products.

Step 1:     In the shower

Replace your:

  • Shampoo,
  • Conditioner, &
  • Body Wash
  • Body Lotion (optional)

Replace shampoo, conditioner & body wash first because we are giving our whole body an organic change. When we wash our hair, we’re usually standing in a shower; so our shampoo will run down the whole of your body. If you’re using natural and organic body wash, but not shampoo, then your still putting chemicals on your body via shampoo.

Starting with these three products (or 2 if you don’t use conditioner) is great, because these products are a staple item and thereby always used.

Step 2:     At the bathroom sink

Replace your:

  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Hand soap, liquid or bar
  • Hand cream (optional)

Here we are at step 2 and we’ve not wasted anything. We’ve used up our old toothpaste, we’ve used up our old deodorant, and soap etc.   We have simple replaced products that we would normally use with an organic alternative

At the end of step 2 we’ve not spent a great deal of money, but we’ve introduced our whole body to an organic regime!   You will begin to notice a difference in your body now.   Any mild dermatitis or dryness may have disappeared; flaky scalp and dry hair may be a problem of the past, because your organic products are allowing your hair and body to heal and improve itself.

Step 3:  An organic face lift

Replace your:

  • Cleanser
  • Toner (optional) &
  • Moisturiser

Many of our customers have commented that simply replacing their cleanser and moisturiser has made a huge difference to their skin.   Some have not needed any other product (that’s mostly the young ones!).

Step 4:   Down to details

Replace your:

  • Serums & oils
  • Acne defence
  • Eye creams
  • Rejuvenation

Sadly we can not completely reverse the aging process. But we can slow it to certain degree, by giving our body the best possible environment to heal itself.   Organic and natural serums and oils etc, facilitate this. There is no miracle chemical that changes the molecular structure of skin, just good quality pure and natural ingredients that have a long history of rejuvenating qualities

Step 5:     Non-toxic make up

Replace your:

  • Make up

Mineral make up compliments a refreshed new skin care regime.   It’s a beautiful world when we are able to enhance our appearance naturally. Gone are the days where for the sake of fashion we use arsenic, mercury and lead (not to mention contemporary petrochemicals!).   These days natural mineral and/or organic make up can create a beautiful you without the risk of deadly chemicals.

Step 6:     Nourishing in the sun

Replace your:

  • Sunscreen
  • After sun lotion (optional)

As summer approaches, think about prioritising this step along with steps 1-3. It’s good to have a natural sunscreen that effectively blocks most of the sun’s UV rays.

Don’t forget that the sun is your friend, and we all need a little sun each day. During the summer, we can get caught up with slip slop slapping that we forget we the light from the sun to activate Vitamin D.   Chose a time of the day when the sun is not so hot; like the early morning or just before sunset. Perhaps you could have your morning coffee outside.

Step 7:     Little luxuries

Replace your:

  • Bath Salts
  • Body Butter
  • Masks

Now that you’ve successfully replaced your whole bathroom and beauty regime with safe, effective and natural products, it’s time to reward yourself.

Relax in an aromatic essential oils bath, lather your body in natural shea butter inspired body butter and rejuvenate your face with a gentle and supple mask.

Welcome to a more natural, safe and luxurious world of organics. A world, that once you’ve experienced it, you’ll never return to the cheap and nasty (in some cases not so cheap but definatly nasty) chemicals.
